I’m a Science Shorty Award Finalist. Thank you!

I wanted to write a quick thank you note to everyone who nominated me for a Shorty Award in Science. The Hollywood Reporter announced finalists this morning, and I was flattered to see my name among such distinguished company as Neil DeGrasse Tyson and Bill Nye! Despite accusations that I’m a Big Industry Shill faking my motherhood and raking in big bucks to promote science, I truly do it because I’m passionate about science advocacy. I’m paid very little or absolutely nothing for my writing and activism depending on the venue. The support and admiration of my readers and followers helps keep me going.

As a mom, I want my children and our youth to grow up in a more scientifically savvy country than America is today. I’m doing my part to help make that happen.

List of science finalists

I’m honored to be able to reach so many people every day, and to be able to foster discussion and debate. Though I have little to no chance to win against the big names I’m up against, it certainly is fun to be a finalist.
