Weekend Reads: Kids Books, Parenting Novels, etc

Hello hello!  Sorry for the spotty Weekend Reads as of late.  I have the best of intentions, but the end of semester stuff just undoes me.  Anyway, what are you looking for today?

If you’re looking for….some books:

25 books to build babies first library.  I adore kids books.  Our current favorite is “Cows to the Rescue”.

Also, if you’re looking for fiction that goes in to the parenting experience, maybe try one of these?  I don’t think I’ve read any of them, but if you’re a fiction buff it might be worth it.

If you’re looking for….some science:

An interesting paper on getting the “education” part of “education app” right.

If you’re looking for….some (US) politics:

How and why candidates should highlight early childhood education in the lead up to the 2016 election.  Advice for both parties.

If you’re looking for….some bioethics:

Experts weigh in on the DNA editing of human embryos.

If you’re looking for….some beautiful photos:

The Superhero Project is pretty cool.

  1. Interesting, it has “Love You Forever”, which if I am remembering correctly is the one with the mother sneaking into her adult son’s house and rocking him? I have heard a lot of people dislike it.

On the plus side, the Snowy Day and Whistle for Willie are great choices I’m going to have to pick up for my son!

    1. The only thing that really bugged me about the “Love you Forever” book was the illustration of the mom driving over to her son’s house with a ladder on top of her car. I just figured if her son wanted her to continue cuddling him, he’d give her a key. That moved it into the territory of a little creepy to me. My kids really love the story though.

  2. I really love the books on this list. I wish I’d read it when my toddlers were younger, because some of the ones I don’t have look really good. One book that’s not on it, that we love is by Margaret Wise Brown (Goodnight Moon) and called “The Diggers.” The version we have is illustrated by Antione Corbineau, and the artwork is a big part of what my kids love about it.
