Weekend Reads: Parental Self Esteem, Parenting and Your Genes, Etc

Happy weekend everyone!  In the mood for anything special today?

If you’re looking for….some self esteem:

This piece about seeing yourself through your kids eyes was a good reminder.

If you’re looking for….some genetic research:

Abuse and maltreatment may change the way certain genes are activated in kids.

If you’re looking for…some parenting science:

Giving basic parenting support classes to low income families was correlated with positive health markers in an 8 year follow up study.  Correlation is not necessarily causation of course, but the results are intriguing.

If you’re looking for….the next family trend:

Multi-generational households….I guess everything old is new again.

If you’re looking for….some STEM/mothering jokes:

How your STEM degree can make you a better parent.  I do think the engineering degree helped with the car seat, to be honest.
