An update from the #Moms4GMOs: On August 19th, a new movement was launched: Moms4GMOs. It started when a group of science advocates who were also moms decided to write a letter in response to a video which featured celebrities endorsing the “Just Label It” campaign. In the letter, the moms outlined the many benefits which GMOs can provide to our growing population and how labeling foods containing ingredients derived from GMOs does not provide useful information for consumers about nutrition, taste, safety, or sustainability.
The response to our letter has been astounding. Individuals from all walks of life have shared our letter and contacted us asking to add their names to our cause. Parents, scientists, farmers, science advocates, and other concerned citizens have written to tell us that they, too, believe that policies should be based on the best available evidence.
To allow everyone to voice their support, we have created a form where individuals can add their names as signatories to our letter.
We have also created Moms4GMOs graphics for supporters to use on their social media profiles, blogs and websites. We created four logos for scientists, farmers, science communicators and science advocates. Download them here and use them as a profile pic or in any other way to show your support for evidence-based policies regarding biotechnology and agriculture!
A big thanks to Dawn’s Brain for help with logo design!
